For this poetic and striking evening at the Atrium, the short film Half Dead will be screened alongside interludes of live hip-hop performance featuring filmmaker and rapper Dylan Golden. Produced by Dylan Golden, Bianca Golden, Iuliia Rudenko, and GSM Creative, a collective of artists who aspire to share the stories of marginalized people through film, Half Dead chronicles the journey of a young man of color who is exasperated with the current social injustices in America and around the world. Touching upon racial divisions, police brutality, and corruption in the government, Half Dead was filmed in Golden’s Brooklyn neighborhood, Flatbush, a community that has been affected tremendously by racism, poverty, and violence.
About the Student Advisory Council
Tasked to go out into New York City to scout an artist, the Lincoln Center Student Advisory Council pitched, promoted, and produced this show. This show marks the culmination of the members’ immersion into the Lincoln Center community, provides an opportunity for a discussion on the role of the arts for social change, and raises awareness about Lincoln Center programming at their universities.
