Singing in English, Spanish, French, or their native Haitian Creole, this legendary band has been packing dance floors for nearly four decades with a hot mix of grooves and textures with roots from around the world. Considered the ambassadors of Haitian konpa, Tabou Combo folds in other Haitian influences like rara, the dance-till-you-drop carnival music, and the hypnotic drums of Haitian voodoo rituals plus Dominican merengue, French quadrilles and contra-dances, and American funk. Employing the repetition and breaks of Afro-American gospel music, Tabou Combo entices the listener to become listener and dancer. According to Fanfan, the band’s main songwriter, “We want people to dance and forget their sorrows.”
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
