Welcome to the 2019/20 season of LC Kids at Lincoln Center, full of transformative dance, theater, and music experiences for young audiences. This season is about community. Together we’ll learn to understand ourselves and one another a little better through empowering and empathy-building works of art created by an unparalleled group of artists from around the world.
We are proud to present our first bilingual (Spanish-English) production, the interactive journey One Morning I Left from Chile’s Teatro de Ocasión. We erase the line between audience and artist with intimate, non-traditional stagings that bring audiences into the work, as with Cerita Anak (Child’s Story) from Australia’s Polyglot Theatre and Indonesia’s Papermoon Puppet Theatre, which sees audiences board a boat for a fantastical sea voyage. And we are continuing our commitment to neurodiverse audiences with a series of relaxed performances and the presentation of Bluelaces Theater Company’s SUDS, a multi-sensory theatrical experience specifically designed for audiences with autism and other developmental differences.
Whether it’s celebrating the beauty of diversity, creating safe spaces for exploration, or setting out on an adventure of imagination, this season encourages young audiences to see the world as it is and to imagine how it could be otherwise. We look forward to sharing these experiences with you.
