Lincoln Center's hands-on Create-athons offer inspirational and engaging art-making workshops for teens and young adults. Learn the basics of mural making with DAZE, an NYC graffiti legend. Brooklyn-born and Bronx-raised Chris "Daze" Ellis has been in the graffiti scene since the mid-1970s, painting alongside local legends like DONDI, SKEME and ZEPHR. DAZE was one of the few artists of his generation to break into the world of fine art while still maintaining a presence in the streets. Over a 50-year artistic career, DAZE's work has been shown in Paris, Hong Kong, Florence, Beijing, and Monte Carlo. Led by DAZE, participants will draft their own tags and designs onto a canvas, working together to form a representation of self and family that will stand the test of time. Afterward, DAZE will oversee the integration of all participants' artworks into one large-scale mural, showing how artists can collaborate to fill a space without giving up what makes their work special.
