Brooklyn’s Mahogany L. Browne, Lincoln Center's inaugural former Poet-in-Residence, is a prolific writer and avid advocate for public art and poetry in performance. Browne has written works of fiction, theater and critical essays; edited six anthologies and crafted another half-dozen poetry collections. In the latest installation of her long-running Seen, Sound, Scribe series, Browne curates an interactive writing workshop specifically aimed at nurturing beginning poets. Led by a number of young and gifted authors, participants will explore techniques to provide structure to nascent ideas. The event culminates in an open mic designed to platform first-time and seasoned artists alike. Expect spoken word, spirited dialogues, presentations of new work, music, and the founding of new communities. Participating authors to be announced shortly.
