Renée Fleming, “America’s Diva,” performs songs by singer / songwriter Björk. Jaap van Zweden also leads Bruckner’s epic Fourth Symphony, with its stately pace, noble horn calls, and blazing climaxes — a grand night for the Philharmonic’s stellar brass section! Ellen Reid’s commissioned work continues Project 19.

 

Project 19 is a multiyear New York Philharmonic initiative that features commissions by 19 women composers in honor of the centennial of the 19th Amendment.
