The DW Jazz Orchestra is a brand new big band led by two hardworking students from Northwestern University. Following a successful fundraising campaign bolstered by a significant grant from the University, this ambitious pair recently recorded their debut album. It’s not often that musicians this young have the talent, drive, and focus required to assemble, record, and travel with a jazz orchestra, and the passion they have brought to this project is remarkable. The album is comprised entirely of new, unrecorded big band works composed by Danowsky, Wolsk, and their peers, showcasing some promising young voices jazz from Chicago and New York. They’re at Dizzy’s for one night only, so let’s support and enjoy these new bandleaders.
