Choreographer Kyle Abraham and his company A.I.M (Abraham In Motion) create evocative, interdisciplinary works that inspire and unite. One of today’s most in-demand choreographers—recently the first black choreographer commissioned to create a work for New York City Ballet in over a decade—Abraham was born into the hip-hop culture of the late 1970s and incorporates an artistic upbringing of classical cello, piano, and the visual arts into his work. A.I.M’s diverse repertoire explores how one’s identity creates a unique personal history. With a strong emphasis on sound, stunning visuals, and a thoughtful exploration of human behavior, the company’s work creates an avenue for learning about ourselves and our relationships with others.
