Choreographer Kyle Abraham and his company A.I.M (Abraham In Motion) create evocative, interdisciplinary works that inspire and unite. One of today’s most in-demand choreographers—recently the first black choreographer commissioned to create a work for New York City Ballet in over a decade—Abraham was born into the hip-hop culture of the late 1970s and incorporates an artistic upbringing of classical cello, piano, and the visual arts into his work. A.I.M’s diverse repertoire explores how one’s identity creates a unique personal history. With a strong emphasis on sound, stunning visuals, and a thoughtful exploration of human behavior, the company’s work creates an avenue for learning about ourselves and our relationships with others. Made up of dancers from various disciplines and diverse backgrounds, A.I.M creates movement that is manipulated and molded into something fresh and dynamic.
