Two remarkable casts share in Verdi’s supreme showcase of Italianate singing. Sopranos Sonya Yoncheva and Krassimira Stoyanova sing the role of the passionate young noblewoman Leonora, with tenors Roberto Aronica and Russell Thomas as the outlaw Manrico and baritones Quinn Kelsey and Ludovic Tézier as the menacing Count di Luna. The mysterious and vengeful Gypsy Azucena is performed by two extraordinary mezzo-sopranos—Ekaterina Semenchuk and, in a reprise of her astounding 2018 turn, the fabulous Anita Rachvelishvili. Michele Mariotti conducts Sir David McVicar’s action-packed production.
