Walter Reade

Built in 1991 as the first cinema on the Lincoln Center campus and located plaza level on the north side of West 65th Street, this 268-seat theater is one of Film at Lincoln Center’s two state-of-the-art venues. As one of the few theaters in the country to still show movies on print (70mm, 35mm, 16mm), it offers film lovers an unparalleled experience—from the cutting-edge projection quality to brilliant Dolby Sound, a tremendous 35-foot  wide screen, plush seating, and popcorn widely considered to be some of the best in New York City. With programs that range from filmmaker retrospectives to international festivals, sneak previews, and highly anticipated new releases, this New York City landmark has long served as an essential destination for all movie lovers to discover or rediscover the best films from around the globe.

The Walter Reade Theater is also home to the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery, a beautiful event space that hosts receptions, art exhibits, and private functions.
