On May 22, 2015, The Juilliard School conferred 250 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at its 110th commencement ceremony, an event celebrated by a capacity audience in Alice Tully Hall and viewed via live stream in over 20 countries around the world. After Juilliard Board Chair Bruce Kovner greeted the graduates and their families, Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, Provost and Dean Ara Guzelimian, and Vice President for Library and Information Services Jane Gottlieb presented honorary degrees to dancer Suzanne Farrell, director Nicholas Hytner, pianist Murray Perahia, singer Dianne Reeves, and director Peter Sellars. Reeves surprised the audience by joining a student jazz combo in performing a heartfelt rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's "Skylark," and Hytner delivered the commencement address, exhorting graduates to use their art to "lodge yourselves in the hearts of your fellow men and women" and be "hungry for all the art that's out there, high and low!"
