Brilliant young Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov, Gramophone’s 2016 Artist of the Year, presents a tantalizing all-Bach solo recital in Alice Tully Hall. The first half embraces Bach’s Chaconne for piano left hand, along with the monumental Art of Fugue, left incomplete upon the composer’s death. The “uncommonly poetic” Trifonov (New York Times) pays homage to the pathos, humor, and gravity of Bach’s work.

As encores, pianist Daniil Trifonov performed short works by three of Bach’s sons: Johann Christian Bach’s Sonata in A major, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach’s Polonaise in E minor, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Rondo in C minor.
