Hail! Hail! Rock ’n’ Roll! Lincoln Center Out of Doors celebrates the life and music of the man who literally rocked our world with songs like “Johnny B. Goode,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Maybellene.” Chuck Berry was rock’s first guitar hero and a true visionary poet that transformed his potent mix of blues, pop, and country into the elixir of youth. With reverence and joy, guitarist Vernon Reid of Living Colour and a hand-picked band dig into Berry’s formidable catalog, which laid the groundwork for every rock act since. Philly rock’n’rollers Low Cut Connie, with a rep for “ferocious” live shows (LA Weekly), kick off the evening, with the pioneering alt-country band The Jayhawks rounding out the night with “lush folk-pop guitars, intriguing harmonies, and big, melodic hooks” (NPR).
