For this invigorating double-bill, OkayAfrica—the digital hub of the African New Wave—fills Damrosch Park with the funk of West African beats and the rhythms of Caribbean carnival. Jamaican-born reggae star of the ’80s Sister Nancy summons the essential elements of carnival culture—music, costume, and dance—alongside eclectic London Afrobeats band The Compozers. Live dancers turn the stage into a vivid, colorful mash-up of African and Caribbean cultures in the heart of New York City.

“Every summer belongs to ‘Bam Bam.’”
– New Yorker on Sister Nancy’s famous reggae song
“The most electrifying instrumentalists to grace the music scene in recent years.”
– MTV on The Compozers
