On October 7, 2016, we live streamed "A Day in the Life of Lincoln Center" on Facebook Live. Camera crews crisscrossed Lincoln Center’s 16-acre campus to capture some of the performances, behind-the-scenes activity, and events that happen in a single day at the world’s leading performing arts center.
Beginning with an early morning movement class at The Juilliard School, the day featured behind-the-scenes segments from all 11 of Lincoln Center’s resident organizations, including venue tours, rehearsals, classes, red carpet moments, performances, and interviews. Highlights included classes at the School of American Ballet, a tour of the Metropolitan Opera House and costume shop, and the New York Film Festival red carpet. The marathon day finished at the stage door after Lincoln Center Theater’s revival of Falsettos. Featured artists throughout the day included classical pianist Lang Lang, jazz saxophonist Marc Cary, New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild, Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green, and film director Pedro Almodóvar.
"A Day in the Life of Lincoln Center's" videos have been viewed over 2 million times. Viewers, located on six continents, reacted in real time to the footage, which ran nearly continuously throughout the day. One viewer from London remarked that it was "the best use of FB Live I've ever seen," a sentiment that was frequently echoed in the comments. Many others expressed gratitude for the chance to get so close to these artists even though they live far from Manhattan, including Vermont, New Mexico, Iowa, Colombia, Serbia, and many more.
And although the day has passed, you can now enjoy "A Day in the Life at Lincoln Center" on your own schedule at http://lincolncenter24.org/.
