Beloved conductor Louis Langrée brings his venerable Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for the New York premiere of the final work by the late Pulitzer-winning composer Christopher Rouse. Rouse’s Sixth Symphony, a “haunting and profound farewell” (New York Times), is paired with Tchaikovsky’s sixth—the “Pathétique” Symphony—a masterpiece of anguished passion premiered nine days before the composer’s untimely death.

The Program

“One of the great American composers of our time.”
– New York Times on Christopher Rouse
“The orchestra can play with genuine warmth and easily conjure up Old World charm. . . . This is one powerfully equipped orchestra.”
– Times (London) on the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra
