RENEW – The American Classical Orchestra

Spring renewal drives the joy of ACO's first-ever performance of Bach's Easter Oratorio as we complete our rise from darkness into light. Written when Bach was at the height of his musical powers, and without the extensive narration typically found in most large-scale Bach works, the Easter Oratorio humanizes Biblical characters, such as John the Baptist and Mary Magdalene, who are performed by solo singers. Also on the program: the Overture to Bach's jubilant Orchestral Suite No. 4 and his Mass in G Minor, an outstanding example of the composer's unparalleled counterpoint technique. With this, we conlude our season, with gratitude for the beauty, awe, and wonder of live music.

PROGRAM
J.S. Bach: Easter Oratorio, BWV 249
J.S. Bach: Mass in G Minor, BWV 235
J.S. Bach: Overture to Orchestral Suite No. 4 in D Major, BWV 1069
