Disability Artistry

Lincoln Center is committed to celebrating disability culture by centering Deaf and disabled artists and audiences. Our approach to accessibility mirrors our dedication to transform performing arts spaces to be more inclusive of our audiences’ identities and access needs by design, not as an afterthought or add-on. Throughout the year, dozens of performances offer live captioning on personal devices; American Sign Language interpretation; and verbal description, designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision. For select events, we are proud to collaborate with Music: Not Impossible, a wearable technology designed for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members that translates sound onto the skin through vibration.
