Presented in collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center

Pianist Chris Pattishall and guitarist Rafiq Bhatia are longtime friends and collaborators. They are also celebrated composers, producers, and strikingly versatile voices in New York’s jazz scene and beyond. Bhatia is likely best known as a member of the art rock band Son Lux and has provided compositions for numerous film soundtracks, including the Academy Award-nominated score for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Pattishall's work as a sideman for the GRAMMY-nominated debut LP from drummer Jamison Ross and his own first album, 2021's electrifying adaptation of Mary Lou Williams’ Zodiac Suite, has earned him a reputation as an artist to watch. For their premiere as a duo at the Atrium, the pair will present an improvised ambient set of electro-acoustic songs, drawing inspiration for their sound textures from the works of Brian Eno, Ben Frost, and Tim Hecker. Rafiq will alter the audio output from his guitar in real time with effects software as Chris responds on the keys.

Run time: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
