Funk pioneer George Clinton brings the collective Parliament Funkadelic to Damrosch Park. Clinton revolutionized R&B during the ’70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from such legends as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. Parliament Funkadelic captured more than 40 R&B hit singles in the ’70s including three number ones and three platinum albums. The early ’90s saw the rise of funk-inspired rap (courtesy of Digital Underground, Dr. Dre, and Warren G) and funk rock (Primus and Red Hot Chili Peppers) that re-established the status of Clinton & Co. as one of the most important forces in the recent history of Black music. A night to remember!

Run time: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes
