For nearly 3,000 years, the city of Naples, Italy has been a bustling urban cultural center, a natural crucible for the arts and sounds of the western world. Ars Nova Napoli, a sextet of buskers playing strings, percussion, and accordion, distills Napoli's rich historical tradition into uniquely exciting modern performance. The band offers a high-energy, naturally danceable reinterpretation of a plethora of ancient melodies and contemporary compositions, all specifically orchestrated to be played at social gatherings and festivals. From Apulian pizzica to Sicilian serenades and tarantellas from the volcano Vesuvius surrounding area, to even further afield explorations into Greek rebetiko and Balkan folk, Ars Nova Napoli takes audiences on a breathtaking audio tour around the globe. Arrive early at the group's Summer for the City Lincoln Center debut for a short dance instruction, then experience the music of the Mediterranean the way it was meant to be enjoyed: in motion!

Run time: approximately 2 hours
