American violinist Rachel Barton Pine is “an exciting, boundary-defying performer” (Washington Post) known for her impassioned performances. Following Brahms’s darkly riveting Violin Sonata in D minor, Pine highlights the graceful 1893 Romance by Amy Beach, America’s first prominent female composer. The recital culminates in Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy, featuring the best-loved melodies from Bizet’s timeless opera.
