The Ocean Etched in the Forest
Featuring ancient songs, children’s songs, and the Big Drum Dance of the Jino ethnicity, Yunnan Province, China

Enter the world of the Jino people, a community that lived largely isolated from urban society until 1979 and has preserved its distinct cultural heritage and deep ecological worldview despite rapid modernization. Through a powerful blend of live music performed by Du Yun’s band OK MISS, storytelling, and video, this concert imagines the future through the eyes of Jino children — what they inherit, what they reshape, and what they carry forward. Ancient ritual and forward-looking collaboration meet here, not as opposites but as a single, living conversation between generations past, present, and still to come.
