Dance Instructors: Talia Castro-Pozo Dance and Adriel Flete

All summer long, Social Dance at The Oasis honors the rich traditions of Latin dance and music that have so deeply enriched New York City's artistic heritage. This Saturday night, Brooklyn’s Los Hacheros, the modern-day torchbearers of the Golden Age of Latin music will revive folkloric styles like son montuno, guaracha and salsa, combining them with Bomba, a fiery rhythm from the mountains of Puerto Rico. Whether you're an experienced salsa dancer or just starting out, the dance floor is yours!

This evening features an adapted dance lesson from 5:15-6:00 pm, designed to be accessible for people with mobility concerns and will include seated instructors. The lesson will be led by instructors from the Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dance for PD program, which specializes in creatively addressing balance, cognition, motor skills, and physical confidence through dance. All are welcome to participate and are encouraged to participate in the full evening of programming. Dance for PD instructors will also be offering seated versions of material shared at the public lesson and throughout the evening.
