Hosted by the Jerome Robbins Dance Division at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts

Just call me Ho'onani: story read by Marina Celander with dancers from hālau Pua Aliʻi ʻIlima o Nuioka in collaboration with Hālāwai

This storytime centers around the book Ho'onani Hula Warrior by Heather Gale, illustrated by Mika Song. Ho'onani is preparing to bring a Hawaiian custom back to their community. Ho'onani takes on a dance role that is traditionally male, and proves that we all have the strength to dance inside ourselves. For this event, the Jerome Robbins Dance Division at the Library for the Performing Arts is joined by the hālau Pua Aliʻi ʻIlima o Nuioka dancers, who will share Hawaiian hula, including a participatory dance for children.
