Style: Salsa
Dance Instructors: Talia Castro-Pozo and Franck Muhel
DJ: DJ Woody

All summer long, ¡VAYA! honors NYC's rich traditions of Latin dance and music with movement instruction and concerts tailored for dancers of all skill levels. Following basic dance instruction from performer Talia Castro-Pozo and a warm-up set of salsa hits from DJ Woody, you are invited to take the Oasis Dance Floor for an evening with the three-time Grammy Award-winning aces of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. This concert celebrates the twenty year anniversary of the release of the ensemble's debut album, Un Gran Dia En El Barrio. Bandleader Oscar Hernández nimbly charts the thirteen-man combo's direction forward with sharp orchestration that remains true to the music's still-resonant roots while showcasing salsa dura's timeless appeal.

This evening features an adapted dance lesson from 5:15-6:00 pm, designed to be accessible for people with mobility concerns and will include seated versions of each activity. The lesson will be led in both English and Spanish by instructors Bethina Sayegh-Flores and Gregory Youdan from the Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dance for PD® program, which specializes in creatively addressing balance, cognition, motor skills, and physical confidence through dance. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in the full evening of programming. Dance for PD ambassadors will also be offering seated versions of material shared at the public lesson and throughout the evening.
