Style: Merengue Típico
Dance Instructors: Talia Castro-Pozo and Edwin Ferreras
DJ: DJ JU CRAZY

All summer long, ¡VAYA! honors NYC's rich traditions of Latin dance and music with movement instruction and concerts tailored for dancers of all skill levels. Tonight's performance focuses on merengue típico, an increasingly popular genre of merengue indigenous to the Dominican Republic that revels in the art's traditional orchestration and uptempo pace. Start your evening with a beginner-oriented dance lesson from performer Talia Castro-Pozo, who will give you the basic steps you'll need to keep up with the sweet vocals and accordion, saxophone and percussion-driven music of NYC-based merengue típico ensemble Tipico Urbano.
