In our quest for immortality, what have human beings done to the planet, and what are we doing to ourselves? What does it mean to have a mortal body in a world that is lived ever more virtually? And in our fixation on the synthetic, the virtual, the disembodied, have we forgotten how to listen to the voice of the earth itself?

Music for New Bodies, composer Matthew Aucoin’s new vocal symphony, explores some of the most urgent questions of our time. Based on the visionary poetry of Jorie Graham, this bold new work features a production by eminent director Peter Sellars.

These Lincoln Center performances are the premiere of Sellars's production, and will be conducted by Aucoin.
