Jazz ensembles, Latin bands and Mambo Nights were star entertainment in and around the historic San Juan Hill community at venues like the Lincoln Square Center, the St. Nicholas Arena, and the nearby Palladium Ballroom. Join us on the dance floor at the David Rubenstein Atrium to relive the storied history of San Juan Hill with a special ¡VAYA! program featuring Conjunto Amalia, created and led by Cuban trumpeter Dennis Hernández. The band revives the spirit and sound of the golden age of Cuban conjuntos of the 1950s through the traditional instrumentation of conga, bongos, and a quartet of trumpets performing a mix of guaracha, mambo, cha cha cha, bolero, pilon, mozambique, son montuno, and much more. Conjunto Amalia have wowed the crowd at Jazz Club Bonafide, Ginny's Jazz Club, Club de Son Mano Guayabo, S.O.B.'s, Bronx Music Hall, and now at Lincoln Center! Don't miss out on an exciting evening of music and an unforgettable night of dance.
