Hailed as the “hurricane of rhythm,” celebrated tap dance artist, musician, improviser, choreographer, and educator Michela Marino Lerman gives audiences Sole Blue, a captivating exploration of tap dance as a living extension of the blues. Featuring Love Movement, an ensemble of musicians and tap dancers, Sole Blue takes audiences on a journey from New York to New Orleans to Appalachia, across Africa and South America, and into the traditions of flamenco, Kathak, Celtic, and Southern Italian forms—revealing a shared language of percussive dance, song, ritual, healing, and storytelling. This new piece is a poetic meditation on how the soles of our feet carry memory, resilience, and the enduring pulse of human connection.
