In this colorful and varied family program, Brooklyn Rider takes audiences of all ages on a multi-sensory, participatory journey inside the world of a string quartet. Coming from a wide variety of cultural perspectives and backgrounds, the music will come alive through shared soundscape creation, sing-alongs, simple movement and rhythms to connect with the music. Mexican-born jazz singer and long-time collaborator Magos Herrera joins Brooklyn Rider with music that celebrates the Latin American songbook. Other special guests include vocalist Christine Courtin and Swiss percussionist Mathias Kunzli, who create a new take on American folk song Little Birdie and Courtin’s evocative original songs. Finally, the natural world comes to life through musical depictions of the 4 Elements of antiquity: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
